CIS136 Internet and Web Development,
Assignment 4 Date Due:

Objective: To learn the process of improving and maintaining your web site. To further build your HTML and web site analysis, design and development skills.

 Web Site Maintenance:

OK!  Now your web site is up and running.   Here are a few maintenance tasks to further enhance your site and test your page building and linking skills:

 1) You are probably  finding that each time a page is added, lots of other pages need to be changed to add a link back to the new page.  Well, your assignment is to create a new page just for navigation, call it something like navpage.html.  Then create a frameset to use navpage.html as a column or row along with the normal content page to enhance navigation.  Use the target=_top and target=_yourframename tags to control the display of the pages within the browser.  Remember the frameset page (index.htm) only needs to be loaded once to activate the frame.    If the target= is not used, the link will always open in the window or frame from where it is clicked. (33%)

 2) Wouldn't it be nice if your site had a form with a place to enter text, and some nice buttons.  Well go ahead and do it.  On your contact  page,  add a text box for feedback with a submit and reset button.  If you are feeling creative, add a little survey with check off boxes to answer specific questions.  For now, just direct the form response to your email address. (33%)

 3) So you want to market your site and increase hits!  Give this a try.  Create 15 key words describing your site, and add them to the META tags in the html of each page.  Also make up a little 20 to 30 word summary that would look good if your site happens to be displayed by a search engine or directory   (34%)

Hand in, a printed copy of the Home page and Internet URL with your name on it.
