    Here is a list of references that the instructor has found to be both interesting and useful for CIS136.  The listed Internet sites deal with a wide range of subject matter and are used throughout the semester.   Of particular interest are the HTML primers and tutorials.  Please check back often, since the list is sure to grow!

Advanced Java: Want to expand your knowledge of Java. Here is a great course focusing on the practical application of Java programming. The Java work environment, computer architecture, and Object Oriented programs will be explored. Creating Java web applications will also be addressed.

Advanced Internet and Web Development: Here is the website for CIS236. Feel free to browse. I added a CSS, and some functional JavaScripts. The course material will be presented as a lecture and live examples covering concepts of the Internet focusing on Web site design, development, and maintenance. The concepts and details of XHTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, client side scripting, and XML will be covered in lecture and applied by students to develop and maintain efficient and effective web pages and sites.

SCCC Business Programming II: Interested in a practical business programming course? Take a look here. CIS126 offers practical lessons in developing COBOL programs for business processing. MicroFocus COBOL is used. Who knows, we may even be able to write out web pages from our COBOL programs! Business Programming I, prerequisite.

CNET: CNET is an excellent resource for finding information on computers, peripherals, ISPs, ASPs, and the entire Internet, and PC business.  CNET is very handy for finding and comparing computer and Internet goods and services, including web hosting.

TR Bazaar: An outstanding user friendly site offering real audio streaming files. With state of the art streaming audio and video, there is no need to download mp3 files to listen to great music. All you need is a 56K modem and Real Player. The free version of Real Player can be down loaded from the real player website.

Cookwood:  Cookwood is an Internet site used quite often in our course.  It has step by step examples to go along with the 'HTML VQS Fourth  Edition' textbook.

Earthlink:  Earthlink is one of the largest Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the world.  Their site is loaded with information about the Internet from a-z.

Overture: A fantastic comprehensive resource for HTML, and web development glossaries, tutorials, applets, scripts, and much more. Easy to use!

HTML Goodies:  An excellent site for beginners to experts covering many aspects of web development.

Table Maker:  An excellent resource for making tables. Tables can be created using a simple menu. The table source code is generated and available for modification and can be copied into your web page(s).

HTML Doctor:  Visit the HTML Doctor whenever your web pages are sick or need a checkup. You may be surprised!

Tripod:  An excellent resource for free Internet web hosting and site building.  Well worth the visit and recommended for all students in CIS136.

Yahoo:  Yahoo is a comprehensive Internet search engine, directory, and service provider.  Some useful free services include email, instant messaging, e-groups, and others.

Free Animated Images: If you need images for your site, look here. Images are listed by subject or occasion. Probably one of the best free image sites around!
