Objective: To learn the process of developing and linking together the HTML pages and images of a working website on your client PC. To be able to publish your site from your client PC to an Internet web host.

Develop and Publish the Web Site:

Using the design from assignment 2, develop the Web site using HTML.  Link all of the pages and include at least one table and hyperlinks to external related Internet sites.  Insert images as needed, and use at least one image as a hyperlink.(50%)

To publish your site use either of the two following options:

1) On www.tripod.com, sign on to your account from "My Account" then click on the "Build" tab. In the build section is the "FileManager" option, click it and you will see all of the directories and files stored in your Tripod web site.  In the file management option there is a dropdown menu "Upload via" with a  choice that allows you to upload or copy up to 8 files at a time from your PC (client) diskette or hard drive to your Tripod member directory.  There is also a "New Directory" button to create a new folder within your web site.  If your images are in a separate folder, then you will need to add a new directory for images and place your images there.  Details will be covered in class.(50%)

OR

2) Download Cute FTP or WS_FTP from www.tripod.com or www.cnet.com , and use it to upload your site to your Tripod or other personal web space.  Cute FTP can be downloaded and used for free for 30 days, then the trial period expires and you must buy it to continue to use it.(50%)

Be sure to put your name, class CIS136, Assignment#, Due Date, and message "Site is academic only and does not really sell or service products" on each page.

Please use only generic or personal images (do not take images from other’s sites without permission).

Hand in, on diskette, a folder containing the working HTML copy of the entire web site, including all pages, images, etc.  A printed copy of the Home page and Internet URL attached to the diskette.
